The veil is thin between the worlds at Halloween! Henrietta Hairpin and the Grand Banana is a work of intergenerational entertainment that Rebecca reads on the show this week. Lucca tells her true story about crossing between lives to heal witching wounds. Both your hosts love to write, and this week they share their creativity. Halloween is the perfect time to share witching-hour stories in the dark isolation of the studio!

Rebecca’s Take-Away:

Lucca’s story moved me powerfully.  There are such deep wounds echoing from the past into the present, and it is fascinating to me to hear strange and beautiful ways in which they heal

Lucca’s Take-Away:

Rebecca is a wordsmith and the story-teller comes out to play with audiences young and old in this ‘witchy’ tale.

Devon tells true stories on video. He believes that ideas can and do change the world, and that storytelling is how those ideas spread. He tells stories he cares about, stories that matter, and he tells them in a way makes people want to hear more. His company, Storybubble Media, is built around finding these stories, and then finding the people who want to hear them. He takes great satisfaction in helping ideas spread in this way.

Rebecca’s Take-Away:

Devon dances between two contrasts – the body and the mind. It is the nature of the differences that seem to provide the creative tension that motivates him in the different spheres

Lucca’s Take-Away:

Devon recounts that he had a moment of touching God when he attended a social dance weekend. It was the first time that his very able mind stopped trying to control his body and joined it. It was the biggest lesson of his life so far, when he discovered that there is an arrogance to explanations. Allowing and trusting his body let him to move into a listening role where he was able to appreciate that the power in leading is in listening.

Rebecca has been around the world, starting a school and raising her children in a foreign country at war, and has made a business out of unabashedly being herself and bucking what “normal” looks like.  Motivated to see positive change, and inspired by eureka moments both in herself and others, Rebecca is now setting her sights on the literary world.  Instead of interviewing an outside guest, in this episode, Lucca turns her sights on Rebecca to uncover more behind one of the hosts of ESSENCEtial Conversations.

Lucca’s Take-Away:

Rebecca used a delicious metaphor about living in SriLanka – she discovered that she didn’t know how to interact with chili/fire. It was ‘painful for a while’ and then she ‘found the flavours beyond the heat’. This translates into Catching Fire Coaching where she partners with her clients in the communal process of learning, seeing them as a gift.

Lucca’s Take-Away:

The way in which Kat combines creative being and community into LIFE. The way she lives is her therapy and her life and creative contribution is therapy for the people with whom she creates community. This is living evidence of the value of artists in our midst and the artist in each of us.
